Newspaper Article on HarriOak!
May 9, 2007The Oakland Tribune published a good summary of issues surrounding the new Whole Foods. You can find it here. (Also, if you appreciate this kind of local coverage, and you don’t have a subscription to the newspaper, please consider getting one. Without our support, the Trib can’t survive.)
Whole Foods Meeting Monday May 7
May 6, 2007The main purpose of the meeting is to address all outstanding traffic and safety issues before the new Whole Foods opens at the end of the summer.
The city has provided us with a draft of a new traffic-calming study of the problems in the Harrison Street/Oakland Avenue corridor. The consultants made a real effort to incorporate community concerns, and we’ll be discussing the report that meeting and pushing for timelines to implement the recommendations. You can find the draft report here: tetap-oaklandtrafficcalmingstudy_draftreportrevised.pdf.
Please note that you will need to download Adobe 8 in order to read the study. (It’s free!)
The community has also proposed an agenda for the meeting. You can find it here: westlake-traffic-townhall-agenda-may2007.doc.
We hope to see many of you at the meeting! If you are checking out the neighborhood blog for the first time (maybe as a result of getting a flyer) and you’d like to be part of it, please send an e-mail to harrioak@sbcglobal.net. You are also welcome to post comments on the blog. We are looking for a really easy way for us to share information about our neighborhood.
